On June 1st 2025 the Free Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) Scheme officially commenced in Ireland. The scheme provides free access to HRT medications, including tablets, patches, gels, and devices like coils. There are no charges in the pharmacy but if you don’t have a medical card you will have to pay your GP for the prescription. People without medical cards who wish to avail of free HRT will have to register for a Drugs Payment Scheme (DPS) card. You can apply for the card at Apply for a Drugs Payment Scheme card - HSE.ie
